The UK government's introduction of the Public Charging Regulations represents a pivotal step toward standardising and improving the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience for drivers nationwide. Specifically aimed at ensuring a seamless and consistent charging experience, these regulations are crucial for Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and hardware manufacturers, placing the responsibility on them to implement the necessary changes. While this creates both challenges and opportunities for CPOs, the regulations apply to all public charge points, with the exception of those located in workplaces or restricted areas, such as private garages.
To help our CPO customers avoid penalties, here's a summary of how Fuuse is supporting you with PCPR compliance:
24/7 DRIVER HELPLINE SUPPORT BY NOVEMBER 2024
As of 24 November 2024, charge point operators (CPOs) are required to provide and advertise a free, 24/7 staffed telephone helpline at all charge points to assist drivers with any issues or questions. This regulation aims to enhance the driver experience by ensuring real-time support is always available.
Fuuse has long recognised the importance of providing immediate, round-the-clock assistance to drivers. Unlike generic call centres, our driver support service is fully integrated with your charging network, allowing us to provide more tailored, effective support. We don’t just answer calls – we help resolve issues directly, with a deep understanding of your specific operations, ensuring faster, more accurate assistance for drivers.
For CPOs, offering this level of support is not just about meeting regulatory requirements—it’s about responsibility. By integrating 24/7 helpline support through Fuuse, you can ensure driver satisfaction, protect your brand’s reputation, and avoid costly downtime or customer frustration. In an industry that thrives on reliability, having a fully compliant, effective support system in place is a must. This service goes beyond compliance; it’s an essential step toward providing an exceptional driver experience and safeguarding your network's operational excellence.

RELIABILITY STANDARDS FOR CHARGE POINT OPERATORS
BY NOVEMBER 2024
Starting 24 November 2024, charge point operators (CPOs) must meet new reliability standards, ensuring their rapid charge points (50kW or above) maintain an average of 99% reliability across the network over the course of a calendar year. Reliability is determined by the charge point’s status - ‘available’, ‘charging’, or ‘reserved’—as shared via the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP). Any status marked as ‘inoperative’ or ‘out of order’ will negatively impact reliability scores. Additionally, operators are required to publish their reliability data on their websites and submit a detailed annual report to the OPSS starting January 2026.
Here at Fuuse, we understand that this isn’t just about meeting a one-time deadline. The shift towards higher reliability is shaping the future of EV infrastructure, and we’re committed to supporting our customers in navigating this new world. While we’ve long provided tools to track and maintain uptime, we’re continuing to invest in solutions that will make your network's reliability even stronger. Our future updates, which we’ll be sharing more about soon, will provide operators with even more advanced tools to enhance uptime, track performance and stay ahead of compliance requirements.
Fuuse’s platform already makes it easy for operators to meet the 99% reliability mandate. With built-in features for real-time monitoring, automated reporting, and tools to log and categorise downtime—whether due to technical issues, maintenance, or external causes like vandalism—compliance becomes seamless. Operators can attach supporting documentation, such as service records or crime reference numbers, to justify downtime exemptions. By streamlining reporting and delivering detailed analytics, Fuuse ensures that operators not only meet regulatory standards but also continue to build trust with their customers by maintaining transparent, high-performing networks.
This is more than just ticking a box for November. It’s about equipping CPOs with the tools they need for long-term success in an increasingly demanding industry. Fuuse is here to help you not only comply with today’s standards but also thrive in tomorrow’s world of higher reliability expectations.

CONTACTLESS PAYMENT INTEGRATION BY NOVEMBER 2024
As of 24 November 2024, all new public charge points over 8 kW, including slow, fast, rapid, and ultra-rapid charge points, must provide contactless payment terminals, allowing users to pay for their charge without needing memberships or contracts. Existing publicly available charge points must also be retrofitted with contactless payment terminals to comply with these requirements.
Fuuse’s back-office solution supports Payter, Ingenico and many more contactless payment terminals. This ensures that Charge Point Operators (CPOs) can easily meet the contactless payment requirements, providing a convenient and hassle-free payment experience for EV drivers.
OPEN CHARGE POINT DATA REPORTING BY NOVEMBER 2024
By 24 November 2024, Charge Point Operators (CPOs) must accurately record and report both reference and availability data for each charge point within their network.
Reference data includes essential details such as location, connector type, payment methods available and pricing.
Availability data indicates the operational status of the charge points, defined as available, charging, or reserved, and must be updated within 30 seconds of any status change.
Starting from this date, CPOs are required to maintain precise data records and share them with relevant authorities upon request. Fuuse has extensive experience collaborating with third-party entities and holds ISO 27001 accreditation, ensuring compliance with data reporting requirements while safeguarding privacy laws.
Fuuse offers a streamlined solution for CPOs to meet regulatory Open Data compliance requirements. Our platform features a dedicated page within the Fuuse web portal that includes a direct link for users to access their Open Data. CPOs can easily share this link on their websites, allowing external users or authorities to access the required data effortlessly. With our ISO 27001 accreditation, Fuuse guarantees that the entire process adheres to privacy regulations and reporting standards, making Open Data sharing both secure and compliant.
TRANSPARENT PRICING
Charge point operators must clearly display the total cost of a charging session in pence per kilowatt hour (p/kWh), including any additional fees such as connection charges. This information must be visible on the charge point or via a separate device to ensure transparent pricing for all users.
Fuuse displays tariffs on the site details page within the app to help Charge Point Operators (CPOs) comply while providing clear, consistent pricing for drivers. Drivers can view all available tariffs, including variations like peak/off-peak rates or charger-specific pricing, directly on the site details page, ensuring full clarity before selecting a charger.
PAYMENT ROAMING BY NOVEMBER 2025
By 2025, CPOs must allow drivers to connect via at least one roaming provider, giving EV drivers greater flexibility and access to a larger network of charge points. Additionally, there is a requirement for CPOs to report any new roaming agreements within 28 days, ensuring transparency and compliance.
Fuuse is already integrated with major e-mobility service providers (EMSPs), enabling CPOs to offer roaming capabilities and meet these requirements well ahead of the deadline. Our platform ensures EV drivers can easily access charge points both across the UK and internationally, while helping CPOs stay compliant with reporting obligations.
ARE YOU A CPO? FUUSE IS HERE TO HELP:
WHAT THE NEW REGULATIONS MEAN FOR YOUR BUSINESS
Non-compliance with the UK’s new Public Charge Point Regulations could have serious financial consequences for Charge Point Operators (CPOs). Each charge point that fails to meet the requirements for contactless payments, roaming, reporting, open charge point data and price transparency could result in penalties of up to £10,000 per charge point. This highlights the importance of ensuring that every aspect of your operation adheres to the new rules.
At Fuuse, we’re committed to supporting our customers through these changes. Our platform not only simplifies compliance with real-time monitoring, reporting tools, and payment system integrations, but also enhances your overall network performance. By helping you meet the stringent reliability standards, 24/7 helpline support and data-sharing mandates, Fuuse helps ensure your business be compliant and positioned for long-term success in the evolving EV landscape.
