Transitioning Be.EV’s Charging Network to Fuuse
case study
Tailored Solution by Fuuse for Be.EV's Growth and Flexibility
Explore how Be.EV partnered with Fuuse to enhance operational flexibility, improve customer experience and future-proof their growing UK EV charging network.
Project challenge:
Operational flexibility
Despite their success, Be.EV faced three challenges:
1. Customer Experience: Problems with reliability around usage of the app and charger activation.
2. Lack of Flexibility: Difficulty in adapting to new industry developments and integrating emerging partners.
3. Dynamic Roaming Support: The need to support roaming dynamically by adding new partners as they emerged.
BACKGROUND
Be.EV is a leading public electric vehicle (EV) charging provider in the UK, with a mission to build a fair and sustainable infrastructure that accelerates the EV revolution. With nearly 700 live charging bays and over 1,000 in the pipeline, Be.EV is backed by £110 million from Octopus Energy Generation, powered by 100% deep green energy, and maintains an impressive uptime record. Recently, Be.EV secured an additional £55 million in funding from NatWest and the German KfW IPEX-Bank. This substantial investment will facilitate the expansion of Be.EV’s network to over 1,000 rapid and ultra-rapid charging bays by the end of 2024, setting the stage for future investments in the EV charging industry.
Solution: fuuse
Be.EV partnered with Fuuse to transition their existing network to a more flexible and scalable back-office software solution.
Fuuse offered a comprehensive platform that integrated seamlessly with Be.EV’s existing hardware and systems, thanks to its robust public API. The UK-based Fuuse team also brought local market expertise, facilitating close collaboration and a deep understanding of Be.EV’s needs.
Migration Process
Fuuse successfully migrated 754 connectors across 176 charging sites to their platform. This involved importing 70k RFID tokens, ensuring a seamless transition with minimal disruption to Be.EV’s operations.
CURRENT STATUS
Following the successful migration, Be.EV now has more than 900 connectors powered by Fuuse across more than 200 charging sites. This transition has not only enhanced operational flexibility but also positioned Be.EV to adapt dynamically to industry changes and integrate new partners with ease.
